VAL SHIVELY AND 50 YEARS OF COLLECTING RECORDS IN PHILADELPHIA
This is a documentary about passionate music collector Val Shively who has been buying and selling records – and collecting friends and stories – for well over 50 years. Val Shively’s musical love is group harmony, commonly known as “doo wop” – but his life’s work collecting and selling records has real life connections through artists like QuestLove and a comprehensive coffee table book about vinyl collecting by Eilon Paz called Dust and Grooves.
Director Christopher Plant and Executive Producer Chris Fralic are proud to donate RECOLLECTIONS: Val Shively and 50 Years of Collecting Records in Philadelphia to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and to have it streamed here so that more people can learn about and appreciate the phenomenal value of Val Shively’s life work.
