Main Exhibit Hall - Cities and Sounds, Rave On: Rock and Roll's Early Years Born Ellis Bates in McComb, Mississippi, Bo Diddley was known for his signature “ham bone” beat, which was a cornerstone of early rock and roll. Diddley, who wore hornrimmed glasses and plaid tuxedo jackets, rounded out his unique look with oddshaped guitars, like this rectangular model. Bo Diddley was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.
