Dave Matthews Band not only pioneered a new brand of rock, incorporating jazz, folk, offbeat melody and highwire improvisation, they created a sustaining grassroots fan community who swapped cassettes, followed them on tour and became family. Even as this band of highly skilled players broke through to the mainstream, their distinctive style remained, their authenticity undiminished.
