Founded in Van Nuys, California, in 1993, Hopeless Records has cornered the independent alternative rock scene for the last three decades. Since its inception, the label’s mission is an unwavering dedication to making a positive impact in the music community and industry at large. Beginning with the 7” vinyl release of 11oz by Guttermouth, Hopeless Records, with sister recording company Sub City Records, has gone on to release over 300 albums, many of which debuted in the top 10 of the Billboard 200, Alternative Airplay, and Top Rock Albums charts. Today, Hopeless Records ranks among the top 50 record labels in the U.S.
Originally catering to the ‘90s ska craze and early 2000s pop-punk explosion, Hopeless Records’ artist roster now includes a vast array of genres, ranging from alternative/indie to heavy metal and everything in between. Hopeless Records alumni include powerhouse bands such as All Time Low, Avenged Sevenfold, New Found Glory, Sum 41, Taking Back Sunday, and Yellowcard, while the label’s current roster includes modern rock icons such as Destroy Boys, Illuminati Hotties, Neck Deep, PVRIS, and Scene Queen.
Louis Posen, founder of Hopeless Records, says, “We never forget who we do it for: the fans. What sets us apart is, at the end of the day…we’re fans too. Yup, we’re Hopeless, but we’re not going to let that stop us.”
