The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame + Museum

Donating Artifacts

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum seeks materials that will help tell the life stories of Hall of Fame inductees, as well as other significant artists. The Museum’s Collection is dependent on donated items. Items are taken on loan for specific exhibit use. The Museum does not purchase items, and cannot give appraisals or estimate the value of memorabilia.

The Museum is interested in:

  • rare concert posters
  • handbills
  • show programs
  • some record collections that comprehensively represent one artist
  • records form “roots music” artists (pre-1950s gospel, blues, country, folk, bluegrass, R&B)
  • 45 rpm picture sleeves
  • sheet music
  • collections of defunct or foreign rock magazines (i.e. Creem, Trouser Press, NME,  Melody Maker, Best…)
  • music business trade magazines (Cashbox, Record World)
  • out-of-print books on rock and roll
  • vintage licensed merchandise

The Museum is NOT interested in:

  • general record collections from the Sixties till now
  • newspaper clippings
  • concert t-shirts
  • drawings, paintings, portraits, sculptures or other rock and roll-related artworks
  • live performance photography

Donations may mean tax deductions that should be discussed with your accountant or tax consultant.

If you have items that you wish to donate or loan to the Museum’s collection, please send the Curatorial Department a detailed list and written description of the items.  Photos are welcome and helpful.
