The 2000 Induction Ceremony

A new century of inductions commenced on March 6, 2000. And new to the Hall of Fame were Inductees included in the Sidemen category. described by Seymour Stein as, "those musicians who both in the studio and in concert backed up and helped create the magical sound of some of the music that has impacted our lives." The first group of sidemen represented a variety of instruments and talents essential to rock & roll: drummer Hal Blaine, saxophonist King Curtis, bassist James Jamerson, guitarist Scotty Moore, and drummer Earl Palmer. Musicianship was the emphasis among snother stellar cast of inductees that included: Eric Clapton; Earth, Wind & Fire; The Lovin' Spoonful; The Moonglows; Bonnie Raitt; James Taylor; Nat King Cole and Billie Holiday.
