Each year, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame recognizes the contributions of those who have had a significant impact on the evolution, development and perpetuation of rock and roll.  Factors such as an artist's musical influence, body of work, innovation and superiority in style and technique are all considered when evaluating artists for induction –  but “musical excellence” is the essential qualification for induction.

What does this mean, exactly?  How can thinking about musical excellence help us to better understand the value of popular music and the value of critical thinking in the 21st century?  Who would YOU choose to be inducted?  We want your students to be the judge.
