The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is pleased to host an evening with musician, producer, SIRIUS XM DJ Genya Ravan on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at 7p.m. in the Rock Hall’s Foster Theater. This event is presented in conjunction with the Rock Hall’s annual Summer Teacher Institute, a week-long workshop for teachers dedicated to bringing rock and roll into the classroom. This year’s Institute will also feature guests from the Rock ‘n’ Roll Camp for Girls in Portland, OR and Girls Rock DC. Ravan and her band Goldie and the Gingerbreads are included in the Rock Hall’s groundbreaking exhibit Women Who Rock: Vision, Passion, and Power, which illustrates the important roles women have played in rock and roll, from its inception through today.
Ravan will be interviewed by the Rock Hall’s Vice President of Education and Public Programs Dr. Lauren Onkey and will discuss her pioneering music career and her wealth of experience in the music industry as singer, producer, music executive, and radio host. Questions will be taken from the audience at the end of the interview.

Genya Ravan formed Goldie and the Gingerbreads in the early sixties, touring behind a string of European hits with the Rolling Stones, Kinks, Yardbirds and Hollies as the first all-female rock and roll band. Later she resurfaced back in the US as the powerful voice of Ten Wheel Drive, one of the original horn jazz-fusion bands. In the seventies, she expanded her repertoire becoming the world’s first independent female producer, with critically acclaimed records by Ronnie Spector and the Dead Boys, including Young Loud and Snotty, labeled the ultimate punk album by many reviewers. During the same period, Hilly Krystal summoned Ravan to head up CBGB Records.
In 2010, Ravan returned to recording, releasing a new self-produced collection of some of her favorite songs, appropriately titled Undercover…, which includes performances by a number of friends including Elliott Randall, Ian Mclagan, Nile Rodgers, Lenny Kaye and singing one of her signature duets with Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee Felix Cavaliere. She also hosts two monthly radio shows for Little Steven’s Underground Garage on Sirius/XM: “Chicks and Broads” in which she covers the often forgotten music of female artists from the 40’s to the present, as well as “Goldie’s Garage” in which she continues her long career of showcasing new and unsigned bands.
