Technical Services Assistant – Job No. 0807
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is currently considering applicants for the position of Technical Services Assistant. The Technical Services Assistant reports to the Director of IT and is responsible for troubleshooting and resolving problems on Windows networks, ensuring computer equipment is running properly, making adjustments and/or repairs as necessary, and for inventorying equipment and supplies. The Technical Services Assistant will also provide support as needed for audio-video presentations/programs and multi-media projects, including video encoding/archiving, radio studio support, and possibly automated systems programming.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs network and computer support (troubleshooting and help desk).
- Configures, upgrades, repairs, and deploys PCs and Macintosh Computers (Windows XP/Vista).
- Provides software applications support (Office 2000/2007, Internet Explorer, etc).
- Updates intranet information.
- Performs tape backup of servers and transports to offsite storage.
- Provides AV support at Rockin the Schools and other in-house programs.
- Performs daily walkthroughs of exhibit hall and troubleshoot/repair problems.
- Serves as secondary radio studio engineer as needed.
- Provides tech services coverage on weekends, especially Sundays.
- Assists with video encoding and archiving projects as needed.
- Becomes familiar with AMX automated control systems and serves as a backup on supporting AMX.
Duties include but may not be limited to the above.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s Degree in computer science or equivalent experience preferred, Audio/Video experience is a plus.
- One (1) to two (2) years experience in Information Systems and/or Audio/Video experience.
- Knowledge of Ethernet networks, servers, printers and other peripherals.
- Windows XP/Vista client configuration and support in a Windows network environment.
- Experience with HTML, ASP web page development.
- Audio-Video and multimedia knowledge and experience – audio/video encoding, sound boards, projection systems, etc.
- Radio Studio equipment use or engineering experience a plus.
- Problem solving/troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Ability to successfully pass Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum reference check, background investigation and drug screening.
- Ability to get along with other people.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Ability to work 40 hours per week; any shift as assigned, including evenings, weekends and holidays. Ability to work additional hours as workload demands. Hours are primarily 8:30 am – 5:30 pm Monday through Friday.
