Director of Sponsorship and Promotions - Job No. 0805
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is currently considering applicants for the position of Director of Sponsorship and Promotions. The Director of Sponsorship and Promotions reports to the Vice President of Marketing and Communications and is responsible for the identification of, solicitation of, negotiations with, and closing of all corporate sponsor relationships. The Director is responsible for creating and executing a Sponsorship Strategy that identifies and pursues sponsorship candidate organizations, packages museum assets for presentation to those organizations, and fulfills sponsorship agreements in support of the Museum’s mission.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The creation of a Strategic Sponsorship Plan that achieves the annual financial targets of the Museum and supports the Museum’s mission.
- Create target categories of corporate sponsorship.
- Create sponsorship product and appropriate benefits.
- Organize and package Museum assets to sponsors, in support of Museum mission.
- In conjunction with VP of Marketing and Communications, manage any external sponsorship agencies.
- Active execution of Strategic Sponsorship Plan
- Identify and pursue qualified sponsorship candidates.
- Generate sales meetings.
- Travel to secure new sponsors and renew existing partnerships, as appropriate.
- Present sponsorship packages to candidates.
- Execute sponsorship program deliverables (promotions, programs) and service sponsor relationship (e.g. tickets, access, tours).
- Produce programs and events as necessary to fulfill sponsorship agreements.
- Work with internal and external teams to develop program, secure venue and talent, and maximize exposure for Museum mission and sponsor support, as appropriate.
- Produce programs and events.
- Work with internal departments to maximize opportunities for Museum departments.
- Work with Education and Curatorial Departments as appropriate to execute programs and advance the Museum mission.
- Work with Legal and Accounting Departments to execute programs in compliance with regulations.
- Work with Communications and Marketing staff to maximize exposure for Museum mission and fulfill sponsor commitments.
- Work with Museum Production staff to execute programs.
- Assume responsibility for measuring the effectiveness of Sponsorship program.
- Monitor P/L for department.
- Measure effectiveness of Sponsorship Strategy and Tactics and adjust, as appropriate.
- Ensure that Sponsor programs support mission.
- Develops and manages promotional events at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.
- Develops on-site events that serve as Sponsor inventory, as well as drive attendance.
- Coordinates the logistics of event and serve as a liaison between the Museum and external partners.
- Tracks and evaluates the success of the program/event.
Duties include but may not be limited to the above.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- A high school graduate and equivalent professional experience. Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field required.
- A minimum of eight (8) years professional experience in sponsorships, promotions, marketing, advertising or public relations field. Experience within a marketing department or within a sponsorship department or with a related agency is preferred.
- Experience in planning promotions and sponsorship sales is highly valued.
- Experience in Sponsorships sales and service.
- Working knowledge of sales promotions operations.
- Basic knowledge of marketing principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid negotiating skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet objectives and deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to successfully pass a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum reference check, background investigation and drug screening.
- Computer Literate: Microsoft Products; Database Management System.
- Ability to get along with other people.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Ability to work up to 40 hours per week; any shift as assigned, including evenings, weekends and holidays. Ability to work additional hours as workload demands. Hours are primarily 8:30 am – 5:30 pm Monday through Friday.
