Labor Day was an exciting day for Cleveland and the Rock Hall. Todd Rundgren came to town to kick off the first two dates of his A Wizard / A True Star album tour.  While in town, he also wanted to come by the Museum for the unveiling of his new spotlight exhibit which features a number of artifacts to tell the story of his career, including his Back to the Bars stage outfit and Patti Smith’s “Star Fever” poem, which was included in the first issues of A Wizard / A True Star. In addition to seeing his exhibit, Todd took time to see and meet his fans.

It was an exciting time in the Museum for fans to see an artist up close and an incredible amount of people stopped in for a photo and autograph.  It’s hard to really capture the excitement of the people who came to the Rock Hall from all around the world to meet Todd Rundgren.

Along with Todd were his two of his band mates from Utopia, Kasim Sulton and Roger Powell, and his wife Michelle and son Rebop. Todd spent over an hour greeting his fans, taking photos and signing autographs. Following the signing, he did an interview on Sirius XM from our Alan Freed studio with Dusty Street.

We hope to welcome Todd back to the Museum in the near future to take part in our award-winning education programs.

It was fabulous that we had assistance of so many of Todd Rundgren and Utopia fans, especially Raquel M. Concepcion, that helped put this exhibit together. I hope that all of his fans make time to come to Cleveland and see this exhibit along with all of the other great exhibitions at the Rock Hall.

Todd Rundgren should absolutely be Inducted in The R&R Hall of Fame…but you knew that. And when people Like Kasim Sulton, Roger Powell and Willie Wilcox are factored in So should Utopia be inducted. Thanks,David Moore

Can’t believe I missed Todd by two weeks…I was there in mid-August. Todd should be a permanent fixture in the Hall of Fame, for not only his personal music, but for all those he’s produced and influenced!

Todd was just recently on this month’s episode of http://www.LiveFromDarylsHouse.com joining up with Daryl Hall once again. It was a blast to watch!

This exhibit was meant to educate and inspire. NOW the world knows that Todd Rundgren AND Utopia existed and the music they made. I think nothing further need be said. Excelsior!

A "Spotlight Exhibit" is nice, but a mere bone that the RRHOF has thrown to Todd Rundgren.

RRHOF- take an honest look at this man's catalog, both solo work and with Utopia, as well as his highly influential and groundbreaking productions, and induct Todd Rundgren into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame IMMEDIATELY.

When I look at the list of artists who have already been indoctrinated into the RRHOF while Todd is left with a mere "Spotlight Exhibit" I am embarrassed for the RRHOF's lack of recognition.

Jan Wenner et al, please correct this oversight forthwith.
Your Hall of Fame is incomplete without this very deserving Rock and Roll Pioneer included as a permanent Rock and Roll Hall of Famer.

For real, whether its known to the masses or not, Todd and Utopia should be in the hall simply based on their influence over other artists. Their music is as timeless and potent as that of Bowies, Queens, Led Zepplin, or the Who. How is it possible to leave out a man that is and always has been years into the future. His reach is endless. Thanks Todd for the lifetime of brilliant music.
